Xanthomonas fragariae - Angular leaf spot
Older, Necrotic Lesions

Brief Description:  Infections often follow major veins, producing long water soaked lesions along them. When lesions get older, they become necrotic and turn reddish brown. Older lesions often coalesce resulting in symptoms that are difficult to distinguish from other foliar diseases such as Phomopsis leaf blight.

Under wet conditions, slimy bacterial exudates are typically produced by the lesions on the abaxial surface (underside) of the leaf.  This exudate serves as inoculum for new infection.
